Lake Shawnee (Proud and Pretty)
by Bill Child

Verse 1

Our home in the mountains, our lake cool and clear

Surrounded by forests, with beaver and deer

Our neighbors are friendly, our spirit is tall

A community of caring, all for one, one for all

Verse 2

The lake's good for fishing, swimming and sail

With a summer's full moon night light, the canoe cuts a silvery trail

The eagle is soaring, as a heron glides by

In this natural world of beauty, we live side by side

Chorus

Lake Shawnee proud and pretty. Lake Shawnee a history grand

One half century and still going. Bless our home in this lovely land

Lake Shawnee hear us singing. Lake Shawnee loud and strong

Set our hearts upon these mountains, and o'er this lake e'er hear our song

Middle

Feel the Sun's glow, hear the winds blow

On a nice row, from North End to White's Cove

Winter's deep snow, Summer's love grows

While the Beaver Brook flows

Through each season nice and slow

Verse 3

The world outside's sure changing, may our home stay proud and free

And if we work real hard together, may tomorrow there always be

A Lake Shawnee of natural beauty, a Lake Shawnee where children play

In peace to build their friendships, and to reach for a better day

Chorus - repeat serveral times

Lake Shawnee proud and pretty. Lake Shawnee a history grand

One half century and still going. Bless our home in this lovely land

Lake Shawnee hear us singing. Lake Shawnee loud and strong

Set our hearts upon these mountains, and o'er this lake e'er hear our song
