Lake Shawnee Club members and their guests are welcome to swim on any part of the Lake at their own risk. The Club provides seasonal lifeguards on the weekends at First and Third Beaches from Memorial Day to the end of June. Guards are on duty full time 11am-6pm Sunday through Saturday at First Beach and weekends at Third Beach through Labor Day. Swimming is at your own risk when guards are not present. Our lifeguard polices can be found in our members only section of this site. Second Beach is no longer used for guarded swimming due to the shallow conditions, although no one is prohibited from swimming.
Member and their guest are expected to adhere to all standing and beach rules.
As per NJ State Regulations, all designated swim areas are tested on a weekly bases during the summer season for fecal coliform and all results are forward to the Township Health Department in accordance with N.J.A.C 8:26.
An extensive program of swimming lessons is offered during the summer months. (see below)
Of course we encourage all of our young swimmers to join our very own Swim Team. Swim Team sign ups are usually in April and practices generally begin at the end of June.
First Beach is the largest and most utilized of our three beaches with convenient parking, picnic tables, a playground, a swim raft, seasonal lifeguard(s), a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and seasonal restroom access (11am to 6pm). It is located at the entrance to the Lake from Route 15 North adjacent to the Clubhouse. The Lake Shawnee Swim Team calls this beach home with it's two docks and regulation swim lanes.
Second Beach is located on the west side of the Lake at the corner of West Shawnee Trail and West Lakeview Trail. Basketball courts, playground equipment and kayak racks are among the amenities available in addition to the semi-secluded beach. Except for the playground area, this beach is mostly unused due to the relatively shallow water depth. Plans are in the works to improve this property in the near future and to possibly create a useable picnic/activity area.
Third Beach is our "best kept secret" featuring a very secluded spot with seasonal lifeguard(s), a swim raft, and a boat dock. It can be found on the east side of the Lake near the corner of East Shawnee Trail and Mountain View Trail.
This year we are going to start swim tests on June 29th and will end the testing on July 3rd. We will begin the tests each day at 10:00am. Please bring your child/children to one swim test that week. The guards will test your child and we will give you the days to bring your child when we start the lessons.
Mon/Wed/Fri is for the older/more experienced swimmers and these lessons run for an hour.
Tues/Thurs lessons for the younger/newer swimmers which we split into two 30 minute sessions. One session is at 10:00am and one is at 10:30am.
The lessons will begin fully on July 6th at 10:00am and will end on August 7th.
Please fill out the form below and bring it with you for each child you are registering. It is very important to put a phone number and email so that we can get in touch with you if we need to. We are asking that this year we keep the registration to members and their family members. If you have an immediate family member that does not live in the lake, we are allowing them to take the lessons. We want to make sure that we give priority to our members and their families.
Contact Kristen Iaconetti for any questions. No charge for Club members.
