The Lake Shawnee Club is host to many activities and groups for its members and their guests. Read below to find out more about our upcoming events, groups, and activities!
Lake Shawnee Swim Team
The Lake Shawnee Swim Team (LSST) is a standing committee of the Board of Governors of Lake Shawnee Club (Board) and participates as one of 10 local swim team in the North Jersey Regional Lakes League (NJRLL).

We are a summer recreational swim team with a long and proud history. Our many members range in age from 5 – 18 years old and swimmer’s abilities range from beginner to elite.

The primary goal of LSST as a recreational swim team is for all swimmers to have fun. In addition to this goal, the coaches and swim team board will work to foster participation, develop good sportsmanship, build team spirit, a good self-image, and above all, to help all swimmers improve both their skills and their times throughout the season in a friendly recreational swimming environment. LSST also promotes a sense of community that will endure beyond the swim season.

Swimming
Lake Shawnee Club members and their guests are welcome to swim on any part of the Lake at their own risk. The Club provides seasonal lifeguards on the weekends at First and Third Beaches from Memorial Day to the end of June. Guards are on duty full time 11am-6pm Sunday through Saturday at First Beach and weekends at Third Beach through Labor Day. Swimming is at your own risk when guards are not present. Our lifeguard polices can be found in our members only section of this site. Second Beach is no longer used for guarded swimming due to the shallow conditions, although no one is prohibited from swimming.

Member and their guest are expected to adhere to all standing and beach rules.

As per NJ State Regulations, all designated swim areas are tested on a weekly bases during the summer season for fecal coliform and all results are forward to the Township Health Department in accordance with N.J.A.C 8:26.
An extensive program of swimming lessons is offered during the summer months. (see below)
Of course we encourage all of our young swimmers to join our very own Swim Team. Swim Team sign ups are usually in April and practices generally begin at the end of June.
First Beach is the largest and most utilized of our three beaches with convenient parking, picnic tables, a playground, a swim raft, seasonal lifeguard(s), a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and seasonal restroom access (11am to 6pm). It is located at the entrance to the Lake from Route 15 North adjacent to the Clubhouse. The Lake Shawnee Swim Team calls this beach home with it's two docks and regulation swim lanes.
Second Beach is located on the west side of the Lake at the corner of West Shawnee Trail and West Lakeview Trail. Basketball courts, playground equipment and kayak racks are among the amenities available in addition to the semi-secluded beach. Except for the playground area, this beach is mostly unused due to the relatively shallow water depth. Plans are in the works to improve this property in the near future and to possibly create a useable picnic/activity area.
Third Beach is our "best kept secret" featuring a very secluded spot with seasonal lifeguard(s), a swim raft, and a boat dock. It can be found on the east side of the Lake near the corner of East Shawnee Trail and Mountain View Trail.
Swim Lessons
Swim tests generally take place the first week of July starting at 10am. Please subscible to our social media for exact dates and times or see any of the guards. Please bring your child to one of the testing day to have your child tested to see what group they will be placed in. You only need to bring your child one day for the swim test. Once your child is tested, we will tell you what days and time your child will come for lessons.
Download the form below. Please make sure to have this printed and filled out when you bring your child to their swim test.
Swim lessons are for children ages 3-7. We typically have ages 3-5 on Tuesday and Thursday split into two sessions, 10-10:30 and 10:30-11. We then have ages 5-7 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with just one session 10-11. This year however, things may need to change. You will be asked for an email address the day you bring your child and I will send out a listing of what days and times your child will attend. We have limited guards so I have to take the children’s safety into consideration when scheduling how many children per session.
We also will have a waiting list for non-members who wish to have their children participate. I want to make sure that every member that has a child who wants to participate in swim lessons is given the chance.
Contact Kristen Iaconetti for any questions. No charge for Club members.
